The perfect place to relax and explore Golden Bay

Welcome to Farewell Gardens at Port Puponga, our small family eco-friendly camp is the perfect place to relax and explore Golden Bay and the magnificent west coast beaches, including the famous Wharariki Beach.
Farewell Gardens is a small and tranquil holiday camp, right beside the sea at the base of the famous Farewell Spit, the longest sand spit in New Zealand.
Puponga beach is a safe beach for swimming, kayaking or fishing and at low tide, you can walk close to the resident seal colony at Abel Head. Farewell Spit is a protected Nature reserve with a wide variety of birdlife including Gannets, Black Shag, Royal Spoonbill, Dotterel and Blue Penguin to name a few.
The night sky is amazing for night photography, not to mention the natural scenery which is pristine.
Eco-Tours will pick you up from the gate. (You will need to book online with them and arrange to be picked up from our gate).
We are an eco-friendly camp, we do not take rubbish or recycling.
No dump station for campervans, please arrive empty - there is a dump station at Collingwood.
All showers are metered as we are solely reliant on rainwater.
Please ensure you fill up your water tanks before arriving.

The camp boasts amazing well-established gardens with large sites for a relaxing stay, with many mature native and exotic trees providing shelter and privacy, and an abundance of native birds.
Our new Standard CABINS sleep up to 4 people, with a variety of double and single beds.
